Understanding Snow Leopards

In order to protect the endangered snow leopards living throughout Central Asia, we must first understand the threats these cats face and the resources they need to survive. Scientists in the field depend on data collected by groundbreaking research tools to better understand snow leopards, and establish effective conservation programs to protect them.

By researching snow leopard ecology, we gain insight into the behavior of wild snow leopards, and with an understanding of snow leopard prey, we can determine which animals the snow leopard depends on the most. Human influences create a constant threat to the cats, but when we look beyond protected areas, we are better equipped to identify regions of vital habitat. By striving to ensure safe prey populations and healthy habitat areas, we can work towards a safer future for wild snow leopards.
