Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is a small, mountainous country in the heart of Central Asia. Many of the Kyrgyz people make a living as nomadic herders, but high levels of poverty lead to conflict between humans and snow leopards.

The Snow Leopard Trust first began working in Kyrgyzstan in 2001. We are presently working together with our Country Program Coordinator, Kubanychbek Jumabay uulu (Kuban) to create a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to snow leopard conservation in the country.
